Create Your Future - 5 Franchise Stories to Inspire You

This month we celebrate out 5-year anniversary!!!  We couldn’t be happier and more excited for where we are and the future that we have laid out for the academy!

For the last five years, the American Franchise Academy has worked to help our clients create the future of their dreams. We do that by providing the knowledge, tools, resources, and support that they need to be successful.

Here are the stories of five of our amazing clients that trusted us as their ally to design their future.

  1. Phillip

He was our first client and he planted the seed that made me venture into the creation of this academy and the writing of my first book, The Franchise Fix. He decided to invest in a franchise after a successful career in insurance even though he didn't have much business management experience and non in food service.

He reached out to me for coaching because he wanted to take control of his business, make the right decisions, and get what he was lacking to be successful. I applaud him for being willing to learn. He didn’t sit down waiting for his franchisor to tell him what to do, he went ahead and made it happen.

Today, Phillip’s business is under the supervision of his son, and he was able to achieve the future that he desired. So here's to you, Philip, wherever you are!

  1. Abdul

Being an immigrant, he had the American dream of business ownership. He found his opportunity in the gas station business, where he eventually grew into a multi-unit franchise, operating three units.

In one of his gas stations, he also had a quick-service restaurant franchise, which made it the most profitable of the three locations. So, he ventured into a multi-brand enterprise. However, when he got to five stores, he realized that there was a lot of information and knowledge that he didn’t have but needed to be successful.

That’s why he decided to reach out to us. Through the time that we had worked with Abdul, he has grown from five to 17 units, hiring district managers to expanding his business. We are very proud of you Abdul and happy to be part of your success!

  1. Fermin

One of our clients from outside the United States is Fermin, and he’s not a franchisee but a private owner of a restaurant chain. Despite this success, he knew that his business was lacking systems and that by learning and applying the franchise formulas, he could upgrade to a new level and prepare to become a franchisor.

Since the implementation of those successful, disciplined, and consistent systems, he has been able to not only grow his business but overcome the COVID crisis by making the adjustments that needed to be done to protect his enterprise.

Thankfully, Fermin’s restaurants are still operating. He struggled, but he’s beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel because of these solid systems that made all the difference. Fermin, we salute you and we thank you for letting us be a part of your journey!

  1. Angela

Angela is a multi-unit franchisee from a very large organization in the United States. She grew up within that brand, from a team member to a general manager, and working there she saw the possibility to become a business owner through a franchise.

By the time she got her fourth unit, she turned to us looking for ways to train herself to become a successful district manager. I am very proud of her because before she was juggling overseeing her units and working ungodly hours but now, she has the systems and processes that she needs to be successful.

Now she can go on vacation! That is something that we celebrate with every one of our clients. The ultimate goal of owning a franchise is to have financial and time freedom. This way, even though they have a business, they can delegate operations to be able to take time for themselves, their families, and their future. These are the things that we thrive on.

  1. Janice and Orlando

This entrepreneurial couple, with an IT background, came to us before they opened their first unit, to be trained to successfully manage their franchise. They joined one of our development programs in the middle of the pandemic, realizing that this would be the best way to leverage the lockdown.

Janice said that before joining the program she was at zero percent on her business ownership knowledge, but once she finished it, she was at 75%. I asked, why 75? And she replied that the other 25% she would get once she experienced doing the business, which will open in the fall of 2021. I predict they’ll do a great job.

In the last five years, we have had an amazing journey, from the coaching for Phillip to the launching of our district manager training program.  We listen to our clients to give them what they need, and we are absolutely committed to providing them with the tools to be successful, now and in the long run. That’s our purpose: protecting the dream of business ownership. That's what we're passionate about.

One of my favorite sayings is “The best way to predict the future is to create it”. We need to decide what we want for ourselves, plan how we're going to get there, and then, take one step at a time, like all of our amazing clients have done, to achieve success.
